A greener, more sustainable indoor climate starts at 25°C.

Join us to make comfort sustainable.

Why 25°C?

In an era of rising global temperatures, cooling is no longer a luxury but a necessity for comfort and wellbeing. The challenge now is to achieve this comfort without overburdening our energy grids or compromising our health.

Air-conditioning accounts for about half of a building’s total energy use, yet many spaces are cooled below necessary levels. This wastes energy, increases costs, and worsens the urban heat island effect. Constant over-cooling also traps us in a cycle of dependency: it reduces our body’s natural ability to regulate heat, making even mild warmth feel uncomfortable and driving demand for even more cooling.

The Go 25 movement offers a sustainable way forward. Setting thermostats to around 25°C does more than save energy—it helps our bodies adapt gently to warmth. This maintains our natural cooling ability, builds heat resilience, and significantly cuts energy use. In fact, raising the temperature from 23°C to 25°C can reduce cooling energy by about 12% per degree, with no loss of comfort. For a typical 3,000 sqm office—roughly the size of 30 four-room HDB flats—this can mean annual savings of around $6,400.

Go 25 is co-organised by the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) with the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), supported by the National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).

To facilitate the transition towards Go 25, SGBC has developed the Go 25 Industry Guide for Building Operations to equip facilities managers and building operators with the fundamental know-how and strategies to deliver sustainable cooling and comfort.
